The Duo

Flute & Harp

"The Flautist's colourful playing rose above both singer and ensemble to steal the show"
The Scotsman

The meeting which brought about the friendship of Anna Noakes and Gillian Tingay took place in a pub in Islington ten years ago. Following this meeting they cemented the idea of forming a partnership whilst on tour with the Uruboros Ensemble and it was to become one of the most successful of its kind.

Since then they have embarked on nationwide tours where their concerts were received with such acclaim that they were immediately invited to peform the following year. The recent series of Mozart Flute and Harp Concertos at St. Martins in the Fields further enhanced their reputation, and the box office enjoyed full audiences night after night.

Their CD of works by Damase for ASV received the coveted Critic's Choice in Gramophone, and they had many works written especially for them, by notable composers of our time, such as Martin Yates.

Anna and Gillian's latest CD release, Beyond the Dark, is a recording of British Flute and Harp music on the Guild Music label, ranging from Greensleeves to works by contemporary composers. It is available from Top Wind on 020 7401 8787 - email: topwind@topwind.com

"For the past ten years we have been accompanied by a brilliant harpist, Gillian Tingay, whose playing is the brilliant counterpoint to poetry"
Ludovic Kennedy, from his new book "All in the Mind"
