For the past nine years, "A Breath of Fresh Air" has been recognised as a flute course with a unique character. Masterclasses, workshops and concerts have been conducted in a non-competitive atmosphere, with students and young professionals sharing their enthusiasm for the flute and its repertoire under the inspirational guidance of Anna Noakes and her colleagues.
Music has always been studied with a fresh approach on Anna's courses. Each day, after a warm-up session, there are classes studying concertos, French music, tone development, technique and articulation. Music-making is set in a broad context, with imaginative workshops often involving singers, percussionists and dancers.
This year, "A Breath of Fresh Air" is to be held at Leighton Park School in Berkshire. The course has moved location from the North Yorkshire Moors to this beautiful school near Reading, which has superb music facilities set in spacious parkland. The school offers practice rooms with piano, recital and concert halls, comfortable accommodation and even a covered swimming pool.
