Anna NoakesThe playing of Anna Noakes has led to concerto engagements with the Orchestra of St. John's Smith Square, London Musici, The Serenata of London, and The Northern Sinfonia.

She has given numerous recitals at the South Bank, The Wigmore Hall and St. John's Smith Square, and has performed at many of Britain's Festivals, including the City of London, Salisbury and Windsor.

Anna has recorded extensively for the label ASV. The CD of the flute and harp works of J M Damase, recorded with her duo partner Gillian Tingay, was voted Critic's Choice in Gramophone Magazine 1994. Anna's recent releases include the flute works of André Jolivet, which has received fantastic reviews in BBC Music Magazine and Gramophone, and also Fantasie, a CD of flute and harp repertoire for ASV. Following the success and critical accliam of this CD, Anna and Gillian have been invited to make a recording of British Flute and Harp music for release in September next year. Other recordings include CDs with The Fibonacci Sequence of chamber works by Poulenc and Alan Rawsthorne.

Anna broadcasts regularly for BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM, both as a soloist and a chamber musician - she has also made many television appearances. She is a member of the chamber ensemble, The Fibonacci Sequence, and also gives concerts, broadcasts and tours with Lontano, Sounds of Silence, Spectrum, and the Prometheus Ensemble.

Anna works as guest principal flute with most of London's orchestras, such as the Royal Opera House Orchestra, the LPO, the RPO, the Philharmonia, and the Orchestra of St. John's Smith Square.

This year sees Anna's annual Summer School "A Breath of Fresh Air" grow into a "Celebration 2000 Flute Festival", with Sir Richard Rodney Bennett in residence. Her devotion to teaching is reflected in her posts at both Surrey and Goldsmiths Universities.

A flute and harp concerto by Dave Heath is to be written specially for Anna and Gillian Tingay this year, and a series of perfomances of this work will follow throughout the year 2000/2001.
