Carol Allen
Carol studied at the Royal Academy of Music under the tutiledge of Sydney Griller and Max Rostal, receiving many awards for her playing, including the String Quartet Competition Colmar, in France. Masterclasses with Louis Persinger, Bruno Giuranna and Sandor Vegh followed. Whilst still a student at the 'Academy she was invited to play in the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra after which she joined the Pfeifer String Quartet Stuttgart, touring extensively in Germany, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, France, Sweden and the USA. She was a member of the Dehler String Quartet of the Staatskapelle Weimar and most recently joined the pianist, Alan MacLean, to form the Karadys Duo. Also she performs regularly with the Bochmann String Trio (with Michael Bochmann and Nella Hunkins). She has made numerous radio and television recordings and CD's of Beethoven and Reger quartets and Brahms and Shostakovich viola sonatas.
