Lizary Rodriguez Rios
Award-winner harpist Lizary Rodriguez Rios studied at the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico and attended advanced harp classes with the noted Puerto Rican harpist Maria Rosa Vidal. She has a master’s and a doctorate from the University of Arizona and two postgraduate degrees in harp from the Madrid’s Royal Conservatory of Music. She has received important scholarships, and in 2001 was awarded the University of Arizona’s Centennial Achievement Doctoral Degree Award as its most outstanding doctoral candidate. In 2002, the Spanish International Cooperation Agency granted her a complete scholarship to study in Spain. Rodriguez has won prizes in such competitions as the President’s Concerto Competition at the University of Arizona, the International UFAM Competition in France, the “Cita di Padova” International Music Performance Competition in Italy, the International Tournament of Musicians in Marseilles, France and the Notes at 9,000: Emerging Artist Series Competition in Colorado.
