Stile Antico

Stile Antico

Stile Antico is an ensemble of British singers, fast gaining recognition as one of the most original and exciting new voices in its field. The group won the 2005 Audience Prize at the EMN International Young Artists’ Competition. Their first recording for Harmonia Mundi, Music for Compline, has met with immediate success, receiving the Diapason-d’Or and Choc du Monde de la Musique awards. Critics have described it as “absolutely ravishing… an extraordinary recording”.

Working without a conductor, the members of Stile Antico rehearse and perform as chamber musicians, each contributing artistically to the musical result.

Stile Antico appears regularly throughout the UK. In Autumn 2006 they collaborated extensively with Sting in his Dowland project.

Highlights for 2007 include a residency at Dartington International Summer School, a recital at the York Early Music Festival, and a three-week European tour with Sting. They will also record their second disc with Harmonia Mundi.
