Andrew Benson-Wilson

Andrew Benson-Wilson

Through his concerts, workshop teaching and writing, Andrew seeks to inspire an appreciation of the organ literature of the fourteenth to early nineteenth centuries. His playing is based on an understanding of historic instruments and techniques of performance. Andrew's recitals can feature an individual composer, a focused theme or a broader introduction to a period or school of composition.

Andrew’s two CDs feature the world's first recording of all the organ works of Thomas Tallis, recorded on the early 17th century organ at Knole. They are released on the Signum label’s Tallis series - the complete liturgical organ works on SIGCD016 and the remaining organ works on SIGCD042.

Andrew’s book, ‘The Performance of Early Organ Music’, has proved an invaluable introduction to performance practice. Andrew also reviews concerts and CD for Early Music Review and writes for other journals.
