"... The Chamber Choir was superb... the best they've ever sung... a real performance choir..."
Barbican Concert with the ECO/Paul Goodwin - Mozart Requiem

"... The Tallis Chamber Choir blazed into Handel's Zadok the Priest and sent a warmth and joy through the Chapel...the exuberant and technically brilliant chorus..."
Greenwich Festival (RNC Chapel) with the AAM/Goodwin - Handel, Purcell - Daily Telegraph

"... The Tallis Chamber Choir's singing is a model of clarity: just listen to those basses in the running semi-quavers of Zadok, or indeed the sopranos when they take them over - precise, rhythmic, shapely. And the middle voices have a good fresh ring to them too ..."
Stanley Sadie, The Gramophone

The Tallis Chamber Choir was formed by Philip Simms in 1982 and quickly established itself as one of the leading British choirs, numbering between 12 and 60 singers. TCC has appeared at many English and European Festivals, at all London's major concert halls with most of Britain's leading orchestras as well as ones from Paris, Budapest, Perugia, Tel Aviv, Moscow and Gothenburg.

Phillip Simms "... the highlight - a most moving and commandingly structured performance of Fauré's Requiem, one which had you searching your memory for an interpretation of comparable intensity and perfection of delivery in both the orchestral and choral forces."
Barbican concert with the ECO/Christophers - The Independent

Conductors have included Ashkenazy, Bruggen, Domingo, Goodwin, Harnoncourt, Hickox, Jarvi, Leonhardt, Leppard, Mackerras, Malgoire, Mehta, Menuhin, Norrington, Sacher, Spivakov, Tate, Tilson Thomas and Viotti, and more recently Adès and Oramo.

TCC has a number of commercial recordings to its credit, including several with the English Chamber Orchestra. They have appeared on British and Irish TV, made several documentaries, broadcast for the BBC many times and also for French, German and Irish radio, made commercial "backing tracks", and performed twice at Buckingham Palace. With their conductor, Philip Simms, the choir has also sung in Switzerland, Italy, Turkey, Belgium, Poland, Ireland, France and Portugal.

TCCPhilip Simms and TCC also specialise in programmes of words and music, compiled for various themes, events and seasons, with actors Margaret Tyzack, Crawford Logan and Christopher Godwin. "The Spirit of Elgar- his life and times" was performed in Greenwich and the Newbury Spring Festival, and will be performed in All Saints Church, Esher, on Saturday 3 November 2007.

Other engagements for 2007 have included a recording of "Zadok the Priest", a performance of the "Easter Oratorio" with the English Chamber Orchestra in Cadogan Hall, and a concert in St Martin-in-the-Fields to mark the 200 Years of the Abolition of the Slave Trade.

Future engagements include "Carols and Candles" in the East Winter Gardens, Canary Wharf on 18 December and "The Spirit of Christmas by Candlelight" in St Martin-in-the-Fields on 20 December. In 2008, TCC performs the world premiere of "Lazarus Requiem" by Patrick Hawes in Cadogan Hall with the English Chamber Orchestra on 14 March, and performances of Beethoven 9 with the London Mozart Players in May at Cadogan Hall and Fairfield Hall. TCC has dates with the ECO in March 2009 to perform Bach's Magnificat, conducted by Paul Watkins.
