Susanne Stanzeleit is an international musician in the truest sense having studied with Leonid Kogan, Vesselin Paraschkevov and Rosa Fain as well as in masterclasses with Nathan Milstein, Sandor Végh György Kurtág and Lorand Fenyves in Germany and Eastern Europe before continuing her training with Yfrah Neaman at the Guildhall School at Music and Drama as a recipient of the German Exchange Service Scholarship.
She has performed throughout Europe, North America, China and Africa including appearances at festivals such as Dartington, the Huddersfield New Music Festival, the Ohrid Festival, the Varna Festival the Riga New Music Festival the International Bartók Festival, the Paxos Festival and the International Musicians' Seminar at Prussia Cove.
Susanne Stanzeleit made her critically acclaimed London debut In 1992 under the auspices of the Park Lane Group and has since regularly performed in London's major concert venues, presenting an unusually extensive and challenging repertoire ranging from cycles of sonatas Beethoven, Mozart/Schubert and Schubert/Brahms to a wide range of contemporary works.
Together with her duo partner, Julian Jacobson, she has had works
especially written for her by composers such as John Woolrich, Alexander
Levine, Nikola Kodjabásija, Milan Slavicky, Gareth Davies and Rebecca
Saunders as well as giving the UK premieres of works by John Adams, Lou
Harrison and György Kurtág.
Susanne Stanzeleit is also a sought-after leader, having led such ensembles as the Chamber Orchestra of Theatre Lliure Barcelona, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Sinfonia 21, Capricorn, the Barbican Piano Trio, the Edinburgh Quartet, Prometheus, the Dallapicolla Ensemble, Ondine, the Endellion Festival Orchestra and the Barbican Virtuosi. As the first violin of the Werethina Quartet she has received several major prizes including the International Concours Charles Hannen and the London International String Quartet Competition.
Susanne Stanzeleit regularly broadcasts on Radio 3, Classic FM, German Radio and other European and American radios. She has received rave reviews for her commercial recordings which include the complete works for violin and piano by Antonin Dvorák for Meridian and Béla Bartók's oeuvre for ASV, as well as a collection of English Sonatas for Cala Records. Upcoming releases include music by Charles Camilleri for ASV.
Much in demand as a teacher of violin and chamber music, she was appointed visiting professor at the Welsh College of Music and Drama in 1993.
