Saxology has swiftly established a place among the country's foremost saxophone quartets thanks to its rich and diverse blend of repertoire, flawless technique and imaginative musicianship. This exciting quartet offers a variety of repertoirematched by few other chamber groups revealing the saxophone's remarkable versatility and expressive range.

Since its formation in 1989 the ensemble has introduced audiences to many new arrangements of familiar tunes, from the 15th century 'Agincourt Song' to Johnny Mercer's 'Autumn Leaves'. Saxology regularly exploits the wealth of chamber music written specifically for saxophone quartet by composers such as Ibert, Francaix and Bozza, and in 1994 recorded a collection of 'classical' works by French composetrs for ASV's White Line label to mark the centenary of the death of Adolphe Sax.

Commissions and new compositions occupy a special place in Saxology's repertoire with a strong emphasis given to contemporary British music and fresh arrangements of American jazz standards. The quartet's commitment to new works is reflected in regular premieres at the British Music Information Centre.

Saxology regularly performs at London's St Martin-in-the-fields and the foyers of the Barbican Centre, the Royal Festival Hall and the Royal National Theatre. The ensemble has appeared at many of the country's leading arts events including the Edinburgh, City of London, Cardiff and Chelmsford festivals and has performed as guests of the Clarinet and Saxophone Society of Great Britain, the British Saxophone Congress and the 10th and 11th World Saxophone Congresses in Italy and Spain. The ensembles many radio broadcasts include BBC Radio 3 and a recital on Classic FM's 'Platform Live'.

Saxology is available for concerts, lecture recitals and educational based workshops.
